Nearly speechlessSuperlatives abound following this year's Telluride Bluegrass Festival. At KOTO, we are astounded by and grateful for your support of the beer booth, and for those of you who tuned in from literally all over the world, thanks a thousand times! We heard from listeners as far away as Baghdad, England, New Zealand and Australia and from as close as Montrose, Colorado! Musically, this year's festival was diverse and exciting. David Byrne's Thursday night set has music-savvy Telluriders declaring the show the "best ever in Town Park," while Elvis Costello, Jenny Lewis, Bela Fleck and Toumani Diabate had Friday festivarians a-buzz. Jerry Douglas was the Zelig of the year, showing up nearly everywhere with his distinctive, deft touch on the dobro. Sam Bush made our jaws drop - once again - on Saturday night, and his fiddle magic with Yonder Mountain was just that - magic. The Lovell Sisters charmed us with their warmth and prodigious talent and Mike Farris' Sunday morning gospel set made believers of us all. What a voice, what passion, and how 'bout the McCrary Sisters? Enough ... there wasn't an act on the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage that didn't throw down an inspired set, no doubt uplifted by the stunning natural beauty that makes Telluride the loveliest venue on the planet. Thanks to Planet Bluegrass for paving the way to another great Live Broadcast and to all the artists whose talent and creativity bring us so much joy. 'Til next year!
