Telluride Cajun Festival-Music on Main/TGI Teddy!

When Teddy Errico throws a party, he sets up a stage on main street, invites Papa Mali with Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and Lukas Nelson to play, serves Fat Alley treats with New Orleans flair and, oh yes, he keeps the Hurricanes flowing. Locals love this little shindig and attended last year's block party to the tune of a sell-out. This year's hoe-down is this Friday, July 31. Gates at 3:30 p.m. Tickets at the gate, at Wizard Entertainment or tellurideticket.com

Errico's dream was born atop the parking garage in Mountain Village several years ago, a creative spot that gave soul to the concrete and steel platform with realtor-speak views, views, views. He named it the Cajun Festival, inspired by his love of all things Big Easy, especially the music. The next couple of years after the party on the parking lot, Errico moved it to the grassy slopes rolling up from the Mountain Village core. More great music, more great refreshments. He soldiered on through fine weather and foul. Last year, Teddyfest, as his pals refer to it sometimes, took it to the streets of Telluride and set up shop on the 100 block of South Pine Street. It was a rollicking success but a tight squeeze from a production point of view. This year, he's on main street where there's more elbow room and local hipsters are already snatching up tickets in anticipation of a very special TGIF.

You know me well enough by now to know I'm on my feet whenever people crazy enough to promote shows in our beautiful, remote location. Yes, I do think they're nuts, but I love them without reservation. Papa Mali will be showing us his Louisiana roots. The Shreveport naive is firmly embedded in blues laced with funk and steamy swamp. Kreutzmann is an added treat and will add his locked-down rhythm skills and legendary status to what will be an exciting set.

Lukas Nelson is the son of Willie. His band, The Promise of the Real, takes many musical cues from 60s rock and roll - a time when music was as much about the sounds as it was about the soul and activism of an entire generation. A great up and coming band.

All in all, an unbeatable evening for live music, good food, and dispensing of the work week. You've earned it. See you there!
