KOTO proudly presents the amazingly talented Joe Jackson live, in concert, Friday, October 24, at the Michael D. Palm Theater. Joe Jackson has enjoyed an incredible career that has captivated audiences around the globe for three decades. His current tour features his original band mates Graham Maby on bass and Dave Houghton on drums. A treat is in store for all those who attend this not-to-be-missed musical experience. Doors are at 7:30 p.m. and the show is at 8 p.m. This is a reserved seating show, with tickets starting at $35. The Mountain Village Mayor's Forum is tomorrow at 5 p.m. in the Town Hall conference room. The forum will kick off the Comprehensive Plan process. Tibetan Monk Geshe Phuntsok will teach meditation and give a dharma talk at the Yoga Center tomorrow night, 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday August 23, noon-2:00 p.m.  Donations gladly accepted.

The Telluride Christian Fellowship will be having Church in the Park on Sunday, August 24 at 10:30 AM under the white canopy in the Town Park Core. Looted gold and stolen art, hidden Swiss bank accounts, and the pursuit of justice form the backdrop of a new documentary film, "Portrait of Adele", to be released this fall.  To delve into this dramatic case, The Ah Haa School's Out Loud Lecture Series presents Robert Krakow, the film's executive producer, on Tuesday August 26 at 5:30 p.m.  The lecture will be at the Ah Haa School's Depot Building, 300 South Townsend.

The San Miguel Resource Center Fall Advocate Training is September 3 through 24. The training qualifies you as a domestic violence and sexual assault advocate. Eco Spaces is offering a three-day introductory carpentry workshop for women led by Master Carpenter Rodney Porsche August 21-23 at the Deep Creek woodshop just off Highway 145 near Sawpit. Women will learn how to operate power tools, as well as safety and design and will construct a chair to take home. Course fee includes materials and tools. Saturday, August 23,  the Livery Playhouse in Norwood presents Telluride's "Part Time Bad Habits" and Norwood 's own "Otra vista". This is an all ages show. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Thursday, September 4, at 7 p.m. at the Sheridan Opera House, the Telluride Institute presents: "The Greenland Ice Sheet:  Beyond the Threshold of Viability".  Join Dr. Jason Box, one of the world's foremost climate change scientists, presents never-before-seen footage of the massive ice-melt in Greenland,  with satellite imagery, time-lapse photography, and jaw-dropping slides.

The New Community Coalition, working in collaboration with San Miguel Power Association and Telluride Energy, is convening a renewable energy task force to assist in preparing a report identifying the most promising local renewable energy opportunities.  The project is being funded by the Colorado Governor's Energy Office. Exhibition: "Solo," featuring an installation by Duncan Mackenzie. Duncan's installation of "Orbit Calendar" shows in a visual way the connection between the earth's orbit and the calendar, given that both last one year.  This exhibition will run August 7 - September 5, 2008 at the Ah Haa School at 300 S.
