  • Ouray Oktoberfest happens today, 5-9 PM at the Ouray Community Center.  Break out your dirndls and lederhosen and get ready for polka fun and sing-alongs with the Austrian Connection, authentic German brats, door prizes, kids' activities, costume and Stein hoisting competitions.

  • Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of the book Braiding Sweetgrass, is Wilkinson Public Library’s One Book, One Canyon (OBOC) author for 2019. There will be book discussions on Tuesday, October 8th at 12:30pm and Wednesday, October 9th, at 5:30pm. Kimmerer will lead a writing workshop on Monday, October 14th, from 1:30 to 3:30pm (advance sign up required at telluridelibrary.org), followed by a book talk and signing at 6:00 pm at the library. Copies of Braiding Sweetgrass are available at the library, while supplies last.

  • The Mountain Sprouts Preschool Fall Fundraiser and Harvest Dinner will take place at La Cocina’s Outdoor Patio. Tomorrow, 3-6pm. For more information you can call 970-708-0182 or email Alicia at alispenc@gmail.com.

  • The 17TH Annual Ouray County Winter Sports Swap will be held Friday, October 11th, 5-8pm and Saturday the 12th, 9am-1pm, at the Ridgway Elementary School. You will be able to purchase your Telluride Ski Resort season passes as well. If you have gear or clothing to sell, you may drop it off at the Ridgway Elementary School between 11:00-4:00 on Friday.

  • The 4th Annual Heritage Harvest Festival will take place October 12th, at the Nucla Town Park, 11am-4pm.   • It's election time again for the San Miguel Educational Fund Board of Directors. That's KOTO's governing board. There are four seats available. If you'd like to be involved in KOTO's management and direction, submit a statement of interest, not to exceed 150 words, to cara@koto.org by October 25th.

  • The Pinhead Institute will host the 34 Pinterns as they present on what they did this summer. Monday, October 7th at the Sheridan Opera House, 5:30-6:30pm. This is free and open to all.

  • The Norwood Community Grain Mill will have an open house on October 19th. There will be a free workshop, taught by Julie Zavage, at the Livery, 9am-1pm, which will cover integrating small grains into small-to-mid scale vegetable or livestock operations, and ideas for marketing. Blue Grouse Bread will have a Community Pizza Party to celebrate the Open House of the Norwood Community Grain Mill, 1-3pm.

  • The Ophir Hill Climb will take place this Sunday, October 6th. Ride or Run. Register on race day at 9am at Ophir Town Hall. Race starts at 10am. There will be an awards party after the race at the playground!

  • The Telluride Historical Museum invites you to explore the iconic Lone Tree Cemetery in the ambiance and eeriness of lantern light. The lamplight tours will take place Fridays during October; October 11, 18, 25 @ 6 p.m. Meet at Shed in the middle of the cemetery. Please purchase tickets in advance by calling the museum at 970-728-3344, (limited space available). Dress warm and bring a flashlight!
