  • San Miguel County Emergency Management will have a siren company come tomorrow, May 30th, to do a demo on alert sirens. This is just a test demonstration. There is no emergency and no action will need to be taken by the public. You may hear a siren coming from a loudspeaker throughout the day and you will hear a voice over these loudspeakers as well. This is just part of plans for preparedness, alert and warning.

  • The Sherbino’s Sherb Talk Series, presents Kitty Banner Seeman, tomorrow night, 8pm. Seemann, once an Alaskan-based glacier and bush pilot renowned for piloting climbers, explorers, adventurers and fisherman into the wilds and bush of Alaska in the 1970s and 80s will present on her recently released narrative detailing her experiences, "Wings of Her Dreams".

  • Join Chiropractor, Dr. Steven Clark, at the Wilkinson Library, for his presentation on the science behind the aging process and real-world strategies to minimize it. Tomorrow, May 30th at 6pm.

  • WIN and Emerge Colorado are hosting a free, one-day workshop in Durango on June 1st for women and non-binary people of the western slope who are interested in learning about running for office. Admission is free, but you must sign up in advance by sending an email to joan@joanmay.org

  • The Western Colorado Friends of the Himalayas, the Ridgway/Ouray Community Council and the Ouray Climbers Alliance will host Sir Chris Bonington, world famous mountaineer, for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the first successful climb of the south face of Annapurna.   • Original Thinkers will host a free screening of “Running with Beto,” followed by a conversation with director David Modigliani. June 6th at the Nugget Theater. Film at 8pm.

  • Palm Arts continues its 2019 Classic Cinema Series celebrating cult film directors. The summer series begins with Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, Friday, June 7th. Admission is FREE with all donations benefit the Palm Arts Programming fund.

  • The Western Slope Conservation Center's 19th annual River Fest takes place in Paonia, June 1st-2nd. Music, Food, beer and cider, and a silent auction with games for kids of all ages will be offered, and of course, fun on the river.
