  • San Miguel County Emergency Management will have a siren company come today, May 30th, to do a demo on alert sirens. This is just a test demonstration. There is no emergency and no action will need to be taken by the public. You may hear a siren coming from a loudspeaker throughout the day and you will hear a voice over these loudspeakers as well. This is just part of plans for preparedness, alert and warning.

  • The Wilkinson Library’s Summer Reading Kick-off Party takes place today, at 1pm, in the Program Room.

  • The Sherbino’s Sherb Talk Series, presents Kitty Banner Seeman, tonight, 8pm. Seemann, once an Alaskan-based glacier and bush pilot in the 1970s and 80s, will present on her recently released narrative detailing her experiences, "Wings of Her Dreams".

  • SMRHA is hosting Lottery Information Discussions. Learn about the Town of Telluride’s Lottery Process. There will be a Spanish Interpreter at Every Meeting. The next meeting is June 3rd, 5-6pm in the Telluride Room at the WPL.

  • The Western Slope Conservation Center's 19th annual River Fest takes place in Paonia, June 1st-2nd. Music, Food, beer and cider, and a silent auction with games for kids of all ages will be offered, and of course, fun on the river.   • WIN and Emerge Colorado are hosting a free, one-day workshop in Durango on June 1st for women and non-binary people of the western slope who are interested in learning about running for office. Admission is free, but you must sign up in advance by sending an email to joan@joanmay.org

  • The Wilkinson Public Library, Between the Covers, and the Sheep Mountain Alliance will host author Heather Hansman, who will be reading from and presenting on her book, Downriver: Into the Future of Water in the West. Monday, June 3rd, at 6pm at the WPL.

  • The annual Huck Finn & Becky Thatcher Fishing Derby is this Saturday, June 1st, at the Kids Fishing Pond in Town Park. Wagon rides with Roudy begin at 9:30am, fishing derby begins at 11:00am.   • The Telluride Balloon Festival begins tomorrow and continues through June 2nd.  The Annual Main Street GLO will take place on Saturday evening, weather permitting.  Colorado Avenue will be closed to traffic, from 6 to 10 p.m. Come out and enjoy all the color!
