  • Age-specific Parenting Workshops will be offered throughout the Month of May. This week, the discussion will be on Setting Boundaries. Today, May 7th, parents with children grades 3-6 will meet at the Ah Haa School. Tomorrow, May 8th, parents of children grades K-2 will meet at the Elementary School. On Thursday, May 9th, parents with middle school and high schoolers will meet at the Ah Haa School.   • Mad River Theater Works Presents Wings of Courage, an original play with live music based on the life of Eugene Bullard, the first African-American combat pilot. Saturday, May 11th 7:00pm at the Michael D. Palm Theatre.

  • SMRHA is hosting Lottery Information Discussions. Learn about the Town of Telluride’s Lottery Process. There will be a Spanish Interpreter at Every Meeting. The first meeting is Monday, May 13th, 5-6pm in the Telluride Room at the WPL.

  • SMPA is scheduling 3 electrical equipment upgrade projects during the first 2 weeks of May. This work requires multiple power outages. The second outage will be today, May 7th, 8:30am-5:30pm and will effect the south side of Colorado Ave and the north side of Pacific, between Fir and Pine St. The final outage is scheduled for May 8th, 8:30am-12:30pm. This will affect the north side of Colorado between S. Oak and S. Fir St. More information can be found at smpa.com.

  • To prepare for paving Fir St and Pacific Ave and for other construction-related projects, SMPA would like you to take note of these upcoming road closures: Thursday, May 2nd through Friday, May 10th: Fir St will be closed from Colorado Ave. to San Juan Ave. Pacific will be closed from the alley behind The Market and Baked in Telluride to library alley.  Sidewalks will remain open. Parking on Fir in front of Baked in Telluride and The Market is slated to reopen in late May before MountainFilm.

  • Rosalind Wiseman, author of Queen Bees and Wannabees (basis for the film Mean Girls), will be speaking about issues most important to youth today and facilitating a discussion with Telluride Youth.  Thursday, May 9th, 6-8pm at the Michael D. Palm Theater. Doors open at 5:30pm. Dessert and a book signing to follow in the Palm lobby at 7:30pm.

  • The Rock and Roll Academy invites you to their Underground Black Box Rock Show! Friday, May 10th, starting at 5PM. This epic show will recreate the ambiance and high energy of urban clubs the Beatles played in Hamburg, Germany or the dives Blondie rocked in NYC in the 70s! Join 10 student bands as they rock the Black Box at this unforgettable FREE event! Black attire encouraged!
