  • The Town of Telluride is asking the public to be aware of Monsoonal Flooding of Cornet Creek. Keep an eye on the creek and how it is flowing. Prolonged wet weather and localized heavy rainfall can trigger debris flow and flooding. If there is a flooding event, shelter in place on a second floor if possible.   • The Palm’s Classic Film Series continues August 23rd with Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing.” Free admission, more info at tellurideplam.com.

  • The San Miguel Housing Authority’s housing lottery for Longwill16 and Silver Jack is now open. It closes Thursday, August 29th at noon. For guidelines and an application, visit smhra.org/lotteryinfo or stop by the SMRHA Office at 820 Black Bear Rd. #G17. Applications are accepted by appointment only.

  • The San Juan Chamber MusicFest begins tomorrow and continues through August 21st, with events taking place in Ouray, Ridgway and Montrose. Visit ocpag.org to learn more.

  • On July 20th, Joanne and Roudy Roudebush's Barn exploded in flames.  It contained a lifetime of cowboy paraphernalia and every piece of tack (saddles and bridles), collected over the course of his 40 years of cowboyisms. An account is set up at Alpine Bank and a GoFundMe has been set up at www.gofundme.com/f/roudy039s-barn-raising. A community gathering is in the works. Any donations of bridles, saddles, blankets, pads, bits and reins would be graciously accepted at that gathering or by appointment in Telluride or Norwood.   • The CSU Extension Office is offering a Greenhouse Management Class on Saturday, August 24th 9:30 to noon at the Placerville Schoolhouse for the class. Please call 970-327-4393 to reserve your spot.

  • The Wilkinson Library will host stargazing with Ramona. Tuesday, August 20th. On the Terrace, weather permitting, 9pm.

  • Friday, August 23rd, local singers, dancers, comedians, and other artists will present a Vaudeville performance at the Telluride Transfer Warehouse, 8pm.

  • There will be a Hunter Education class at the Mountain Village Fire Station, Saturday, August 24th. This is Part Two of the class.  Students must register at cpw.state.co.us and complete Part One before August 23rd.

  • Join DJ Smiley Coyote at the Transfer Warehouse for a Mushroom Fest Afterglow Dance Party. Dance Your Magic, will feature sound healing performances, a virtual reality light display and more! Tonight, 7-10:30pm.

  • Telluride Ski Resort will begin helicopter flight operations starting Monday, Aug. 19 and continuing through mid-September. Operational hours will be Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 6:00pm. Due to the flight path and project scope, certain trails will be closed to keep all trail users safe and out of harm’s way during operational hours. These trails include See Forever, Basin, Prospect Trail and Prospect Loop.
