  • Registration is now open for "Presentation & Performance," a 2-day intensive with writer Craig Childs and actor and theater teacher Colin Sullivan at Million Miles Away Writing Workshops & Retreats in Norwood on September 28th and 29th.   • Rising Appalachia performs tonight at the Sheridan Opera House, 8pm.

  • San Miguel County Emergency Management will conduct a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test on Thursday, September 26th. The test will take place around mid-day, and is intended to encompass the whole of San Miguel County. WEAs are emergency messages sent by authorized government alerting authorities through your mobile carrier. They are used to alert the public to Extreme weather and other threatening emergencies in your area, including AMBER Alerts and national emergencies. WEA will look like a text message.

  • Placerville invites the community to their Annual Fall Potluck, Friday, October 4th, 5:30-7:30pm. At the Historic Placerville Schoolhouse. Please bring food of the fall harvest, your own beverages and your own table service.

  • Rudy Royston and Flatbed Buggy perform at the Palm Theater, Sunday, September 22nd, as part of the Palm’s Summer Jazz series. More information and tickets available at tellurideplam.com.

  • The second Original Thinkers festival is this October 3-6. We are looking for volunteers to donate 8 hours of their time in exchange for a weekend pass. Jobs include: Hospitality, Theatre Staff/Operations, Special Events, Food Service, Bartending, Office Support, Rigging/Set-up.   • The OPUS Hut Haul Challenge is today, from 10 am to sunset. Meet at the OPUS Hut trailhead on Ophir Pass. It is BYOB. Bring your own bag. You can stuff it, fill your arms, or put a basket on your head. The only rule is: no dragging. Come when you can, haul what you can, have a beer!  

  • September is Suicide Prevention Month. The Wilkinson Library will host a free screening of The S Word, a documentary about suicide and the silence that surrounds it, Monday, September 23rd, 6pm. On Tuesday, Sept. 24th The S Word will screen at the Norwood Public Library, 6-8pm. On Sunday, September 29th, join the community for the Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk. Meet in Telluride Town Park at 9:00am.

  • Rise Up for Rasta Stevie. Rasta Stevie has been on a year-long battle with cancer and is asking the Telluride community for support. On Friday, September 27th there will be a silent auction and raffle at the Sheridan Opera House, 6-7pm, followed by music from Dandylion, Sean Deland, Koral Delatierra of Niceness and many more, till’ midnight. All proceeds will go to Rasta Stevie’s treatment fund.
