When the last congress ended in early January, it left unfinished business: a bill introduced to conserve Colorado’s Dolores River was heard by the Committee on Natural Resources but never came before the senate for a vote.
Senator Michael Bennet, who has championed the legislation has now re-introduced the bill in the current congress. Recently, Bennet was able to raft the river for the first time — and was joined on the trip by regional stakeholders who have worked for over a decade on negotiating the proposed legislation.
KOTO's Gavin McGough spoke with Bennet about the trip, and the status of the bill.
